What do you record at?

44.1?

96?

192?

Trying to get a feel for what everyone does here.

Also trying to decide what i should do. Because the Cuemix FX that are inside my Motu 828mk3 start to become limited as i go up to higher quality. Part of me wants to stay at 44.1 so i have full access to all the awesomeness that is Cuemix FX, but again, id like to record higher, but that means i start to get limited in what i can use inside Cuemix FX.

in cubase 48khz because at 441 it sucks,

renoise i do 44.1 its good, and its good at 48khz as well.

when you go higher, it eats up too much disk space. If you are trying to get rid of aliasing on vsts, then 96khz or above is the ticket.

the higher the sampling rate the more demand on cpu, so its not a matter of picking one as in the case of bit depth. It will really depend on the performance of your system.

48 is cd quality sound. No matter what Daw you use.

96 is what is used for films.

Imagine a sign wave as a letter U snd a lower case letter n. see they sre basically the same shape just opposite. So u hit a key and a straight line extends. Your wave looks like this zoomed in

Ok imagine the n's are directly on top of the line and the Us are directly on the bottom. But not directly underneath each other. Kinda like this.

The line is the initial hit. Then the sound goes up and returns to center. Then goes down and returns to center.
Inside the Ns and Us are steps that follow the shape if the N or U.the more steps the smoother the sound. 96has way more steps than 48 and is better for having cleaner edits. No pops.
It dies really depend on Your system too. If ur system cant handle 192 then obviously it wont work. Hope this helps. I couldnt find a tutorual video real quick.

on my side of the tracks, the Cuemix FX inside the Motu 828mk3 has its own CPU, so its not using my Mac's, but like i stated, as i go higher in bit depth, the less fx i can use.

I guess ill just do a demo of shit at 44.8 and 96 and see what i like better.
