A person who has to discriminate and put down another person in order to be perceived as strong is not strong, but a bigot. If there were a male musician whose lyrical content and music consisted of songs like "all women are whores" and "I shot my girlfriend" would you be supportive of that? Because it exudes a "strong" message?

MrKnesh wrote: What kills me is that making broad statements about a large group of people like "gentlemen aren't nice" is just fucking wrong. A person can be nice, a person can be mean, but a whole group of people dedicated to servitude and white-knighting of women should not be treated with such disrespect.
Now, I don't feel that women need to be white-knighted, and in fact the way in which the feminist rhetoric would suggest that they require no means of support from men at all, gentlemen should be nothing but a thing of the past. as much as i copmpletely agree with you that it is and always has been hypocritical to make sweeping derogatory statements about one sex and then blindly praise the other, perhaps the real issue here is one of semantics? i didn't listen to the song the first time i clicked this topic, for a few reasons, the main one being i started to and didn't really like it. came to visit again and just took a quick listen and look at the lyrics. are we sure if this particular song is trying to demonise the entire male sex? the use of the word GENTLEman is the key thing to note here.. and also that in the video she is appearing as a sort of exotic dancer. maybe she means a certain type of person, men who calls themselves "gentlemen" when they are actually far from it... especially in how they treat women. you could maybe call that sexist stereotyping too though, but i would also say it's the same for women, know plenty of them who consider themselves classy ladies or think they are so amazing when they are actually assholes. also as a feminist i would tell you my view of the "feminist rhetoric" is pretty far from not needing support from men at all. how could we exist as equals in a society if we shun and disrespect the other half of the human race and forget to give them the same recognition and respect we have been asking for for so long? i know a lot of anti-male feminists have distorted this view of it, but i know lots of them who do not agree with man-bashing and also a few males who are feminists. not defending her views if she does actually mean to condemn all men, because i think that's stupid. i don't know what any of her other stuff is like nor have i ever heard of her before tbh. what a dick for using the remix without paying bryan though.

One thing i do know though is that i enjoy her music, songs like Opheliac, Thank God I'm Pretty, Misery Loves Company, etc Everytime i listen to an Emilie Autumn CD, sexism is honestly the furthest thing from my mind. Hinotoxin, thanks for your input. Just to clarify what you saw in the video, that wasn't Emilie Autumn doing the dancing (although she is strikingly similiar), it's footage from the House of 1000 Corpses movie.

Re: Emilie Autumn - Gentlemen Aren't Nice
I've never thought of sexism when I hear her. I just hear: "I'm better than you, look I'm pretty."

She is a pretentious stuck up cunt. I had a friend who was a huge Emilie Autumn fan until I played your remix for her and told her that story, she still listens to her but she lost all respect for her. And now her favorite EA song is your remix, so that's gotta count for something right?

Re: Emilie Autumn - Gentlemen Aren't Nice
i can tolerate her music, but wouldn't list myself off as a fan. just being nice to my friend and taking her to go see emilie autumn here on the 21st. day after by b-day, rather be hanging out at savannahs or getting more ink. but i'm nice too my friends. i'll prolly be all meh during the show. already told her by no means am i dressing fancy, she had her friends dress all victorian goth last time she went, thats not me.
i like her voice though, she's just a bit too artsy fartsy for me. i'd rather seen wayne static live or mushroomhead, or psyclon nine, even dawn of ashes. meshuggah or tool would be awesome too. rammstein if i could afford it

If it weren't for her image, she wouldn't be anywhere; Not like she's anywhere, anyways. Take off the excessive caked-on makeup, dyed hair, and lolita clothes, and she's just another whinny chick. Just 'cause you're attractive, doesn't mean you're talented.

Ya I hate the fact that artist base everything on aesthetics. To me she looks like a sheltered and snotty princess who got a bunch of glitter on her. Tar and feathers would suit the bitch better.
