Post So sick of posers
Normal people Its not the way you dress Now it seems that you can look punk and be a normal born again xtian who listens to pop music. The look has been Hijacked, looking goth means Nothing now, or industrial. Just look at the stupid normal music they all listen to now.

Being strange is about Thinking strange and liking strange art and music.

There are so many fucking posers now it drives me nuts.

yea this shit always pisses me off. i hate how people can go and just buy items that make them look strange or whatever. it used to be you buy something and ya fucking alter it yourself and make shit look interesting and its a expression of self. not anymore. its all too commercial and for show.

and piercings damn..... used to be soo strange to see someone with there lip pierced or whatever and now its all accepted and u can get a job with the shit all threw your face... that was not the case wen i was looking for work. i had to cut off my dreads and take out the piercings and all that. now there is people at places that like deal with food and they got dreads and piercings and it dont matter.

i miss the whole shock value of shit. now ya gotta go to crazy extreams to make people double check lol.

Just make it simple and don't carry a cellphone. You wouldn't believe the looks on peoples faces when I tell them I don't own one.

Sinister put it perfectly. There's no shock value left anymore. Either your just like everyone else or you're a hipster.

I don't mean like, shock value.

I looked weird just to be kept to myself, i mean, left alone, so the normals would look at me and be like, fuck that.

I like the weird looks too. but seriously, i hate posers, people who stole out look but owe nothing to its origins or meanings.

Big hair and cult like goth look was inspired by pagan druids. The very people the christians slaughtered and persecuted to non existence.

So true. Every scene, genre, eventually gets infected like a cancer, by posers & talentless attention seeking whores.

Any new form of art starts with innovation, develops, but eventually gets intercepted by fake ego-driven people. The amusing part is, most of us recognise shit (Faderhead, Skrillex etc), and see it for what it is.

So, to be individual, is as you said, by the way we think. But by thinking, we come up with new ideas, new forms of art, and the cycle goes on.

Just be yourself, I always say. :)

The scene is became like all the other scenes its about trends, less about the music and being yourself. :-|

What sucks is I cannot be myself, i am born in the wrong time i think.

I think i am a viking thief raider murderer at heart. At least a big part of me is.

I feel this in my heart, and all this bleeding heart christian shit drives me bonkers.

I would have to wear and animal spleen on my head.

You don't own one either? I think I love you.

Being weird is just who you are. In the past you used to be able to dress to tell people who you were. Then it became commercial, a fad. Now all these people who used to bitch about corporations now rely on them to provide. It all changed with the internet, that's a given.

I look at how fast things move these days and it is depressing. Seriously, just one year ago Steampunk was something hardly anyone knew about. Now Justin Beiber and T-Pain are using it for visual style. It was something I actually wanted to get into because it was unique. Now, not so much.

I dislike the information age. In the beginning it was alright but now things just move too fast. I was totally born in the wrong time and It's exactly why I'm a recluse. I don't like going out into the world and seeing new gadgets or apps. I hate how cars look, how most people act, and what is popular these days.

The purist form of individuality isn't forced or contrived, it's just a byproduct of being comfortable with who you are which may happen to be different from the "norm".

I've never bought into the whole "dress to represent" philosophy. Even back when it wasn't a marketing tool to "look goth", it all seemed forced to me. In a sense, you're a tool of society just like any "normy" if you're driving your personal decisions (such as how you dress) based on other people's perceptions of you. For instance, am I really being MYSELF and being true to MYSELF if I go out and buy something to make people think a certain way?
I don't think so.

I think the reason people do this is because of how difficult it can be to feel so isolated from the "group think" of society. We're all individuals and unique in our own mind but that's just not enough, is it? We're not comfortable with that fact alone, we want people to *see* our weirdness and our "individuality". But why? If we're so "above" it, then why do we care? Why bother?

People are still stupid despite their tech, they could look up a world of interesting facts and knowledge, all they do is gossip on facebook and twitter. Its pathetic. People are still so boring to talk to, even more so now because people have their face buried in their phones constantly.

I got nothing against people who are cool and look normal, i hate the people who try and look evil and weird are so stupid and vanilla its not even funny.

That's society.

It's like something out of a SNL skit when I'm walking around my campus. That image above is like 90% of the people you see.

Soon we'll be wearing eyepieces so we won't even have to hold the screen.
We'll see our e-mails and browse the web while in the middle of conversations with people without them even knowing.

They never look up. They never look around them.

Don Gordon was way ahead of his time with his lyrics to Wasted Sky.

The way things are going, it reminds me of the movie WALL-E.

Image

A scene in the movie shows two people hovering literally 5 feet away from each other yet in a conversation via their video screen. They don't even realize they're right next to each other "IRL".
