 Re: alt. modeling
thanks i think this photographer guy i'm talking to should be good for it, he seems to have a good attitude and i like the work i've seen so far. he hasn't really done anything that i have in mind before, which is a good thing i suppose, means he will be more interested because they aren't your usual every day photography projects. i have been brainstorming a few ideas that i started coming up with ages ago. only really started writing down the ideas now. i want to do a sort of cosplay project for 2 of the characters from my graphic novel. one is a dark, kind of gothy/industrial rifle-toting assassin and the other is a hookah smoking, colourful cyberpunk-esque modded biomechanoid. the only thing is that i can't really do these projects comfortably until spring, because it is seriously WAY too cold here at the moment to go out in the outfits i have planned (which believe me are not skimpy, but if you go outside without at least 3 layers and a heavy coat on atm then you'll freeze... we had an abnormally cold november, snowed and everything). i want to try and get a few shoots in before then but most of my ideas are for outside locations so i guess they'll have to wait a little while... although, the snow would make for some awesome photos! i will have to brainstorm some more. my model mayhem profile just got approved: http://www.modelmayhem.com/atropapipesworthi tried to use the best pics i could find that i took of myself, can only upload 10 on a free account. hopefully they're good enough to get started...

Sounds like it's all coming together! Also, couldn't help but laugh at the november thing. It's bloody cold! hinotoxin wrote: i have been brainstorming a few ideas that i started coming up with ages ago. only really started writing down the ideas now. i want to do a sort of cosplay project for 2 of the characters from my graphic novel. one is a dark, kind of gothy/industrial rifle-toting assassin and the other is a hookah smoking, colourful cyberpunk-esque modded biomechanoid. ...And you're a genius. You've just given me an idea for my own graphic novel. I much prefer photography and digital manipulation to drawing. Now all I need is some willing people and perhaps I can do something then manip the photos to look drawn... Thank you!

Thank you! ever read a graphic novel called Sláine? it's done like that kind of. it's utterly immense. and yeah hopefully it will come together soon and i'll have a better portfolio lol, the first message i got on model mayhem (like less than a day after being approved) was from "uknaturalmodels"..... basically just hairy muff pr0n. i was expecting some artistic nudes or a lot of hairy armpits/legs when i went to their page, but nope, it's ONLY open leg shots of only partially unshaven doots. for some men's magazine in the US. i kindly declined...

 Re: alt. modeling
ugh, got two more messages for "erotic suicide style" shoots. for some "suicide girls" content for a site.
the modeling world is so damn sleazy. should have expected this though.

World English Dictionary pornography (pɔːˈnɒɡrəfɪ) — n 1. writings, pictures, films, etc, designed to stimulate sexual excitement 2. the production of such material [C19: from Greek pornographos writing of harlots, from pornē a harlot + graphein to write]

 Re: alt. modeling
According to the old English definition of porno, umm half the crap in cosmo or any mainstream magazine is actually porno.
Showing men nude female parts, will most likely stimulate them sexually. This is how most men are. Showing females in provocative poses and the accentuation of certain body parts like all mainstream shit does these days is porno. The girl in twilight having her mouth open the whole time like she is about to give head, and yes this is a practiced thing in the industry, is "PORNOGRAPHY".
So even your so called ARTSY nudes are "PORNOGRAPHY".

 Re: alt. modeling
to me it's more about intention. if something is made ONLY for sexual stimulation/money then i wouldn't want to do it.. obviously 'artsy' nudes might also cause sexual stimulation.. i just think there's a difference. and nude/erotic work is not what i wish to focus on at all anyway... also, i seem to recall you once saying that the type of models you post don't just give you a stiffy when you look at them. really don't see why the difference is hard to see. my fuckin keyboards broken, using onnscreen crap so can't reply properly, and can'tbe fucking arsed debating this crap again decasia, last time i bothered visiting sg.com it looked very degrading, but haven't seen it in a while... and yeah, that pic of wynd wasn't one of my favs tbh this blog is a good summary of my views on it: http://www.myspace.com/kristen_ferrell_ ... A169256639i'm going to leave it at that.head is too fucked to deal with this shit.

 Re: alt. modeling
Degrading?
Really, not at all, porn is degrading?
depends on the porn honestly.
You think all porn is degrading?
Um, if they are doing it of free will, how is it degrading?

Um, if they are doing it of free will, how is it degrading? when did i say "all porn is degrading"? i've already explained my thoughts and views on this enough. and you're twisting/misinterpreting them. i don't really care anymore.

 Re: alt. modeling
I am?
How do you think SG is degrading any more that the stuff on your deviant page?
IF this is an issue for you at all, why post your nipples, hips and other vaginal style stuff on your site at all, you can get any art across you want with out using any nudity at all.
I guess you see it like, if i make art for money its lame, but if i make it for soul and meaning its fine. Hmm. I still think its okay to do things for money.
Even sex, heh, if its all your good at, its better than doing nothing i guess. (j/k)

How do you think SG is degrading any more that the stuff on your deviant page? yeah because that isn't what i said or what i think. seems like you're just trying to antagonise me, when i'm just trying to talk about modeling, not debate 'porn' (not trying to define that term anymore) i just remember sg seeming sleazy. as well as a bit of a bastard company in terms of ethics. my stuff? is it "the same" just because there's nudity? i duno, depends on your perspective. isn't meant to be "pornographic" though. meh.
