i probably fucked up a definition, or looked at the picture wrong.
what i think i was refering to was what was used in lots of old chinese art; roughly 45 degree top down view of a scene, with a distortion that could only be pulled off with a view camera (non true eye perspective- at a 45 degree, building lines will bend).
ultima comes to mind in video gaming in this perspective; i recall diablo doing it as well.
i'm wondering if the game is going to be in isometric, or if that's just for mapping purposes (get a layout, then change the point of view)
