I never bothered updating Fruity Loops because I never use it anything in it because it's abilities as a sampler. The only thing I do with the sampler is create drum patterns. After exporting those to Cubase, I'm pretty much done with Fruity Loops in my song's production. So there's no need to have the latest because I don't use anything else in it.
The same kind of goes for Reason. I don't even know what the latest version of Reason is, I have version 4 and again, I only use a few functions, mainly some of the samples when it comes to certain sounds that my synths fail to create (and this is very rare).
Cool Edit Pro 2.0 is my tried and true wave editor. I've been using it for years and it has served me perfectly through various projects of mine. It's kind of the same way Bryan likes the Roland S770 or old Amiga software, which he has often contended was better and tighter than Cubase and other recent software (if my memory serves correctly).
And Cubase... well, I just never bothered to update it. I think will after I finish working on this current album. Again, it has served me well, so I never elt the need to rush and update.http://www.myspace.com/mistermanic
