Post Timothy Leary
So obviously I've known of this guy's works for as long as I've been interested in psychedelics.

But never until recenrtly did I actually give READING his works the time of day. I guess it was because one of my exes was obsessed with the 8-circuit theory, and came across as a total elitist when he sneeringly called normal people the "larval humans".

But recently someone let me borrow The Psychedelic Experience.

Since my bad trip with LSD, I've found it very interesting to read.

Kind of wish I'd read it before, but no matter.

It's helping me understand why I had a bad trip a lot. Helping me understand the general experience of psychedelics.

And then I read Robert Anton Wilson's deoxy.org summary of the 8-circuit theory of human consciousness. Very interesting stuff.

All seen as pseudoscience of course, but who cares? Le's see them prove it WRONG.

And it's given me some seriously fucking cool ideas for my graphic novel. Actually reflects and echoes ideas that I was already forming anyway, which makes me feel kind of bubbly inside :D

Can't elaborate further because if there IS any merit to the theory, I'm onto something BIG.

Could just be fucking insane though lol but i'll see how it goes.

Any fans/followers here?

The burden of proof lies with the person making the claim.

But either way, I freaking love Timothy Leary's stuff, as well as Terrence McKenna's body of Lectures.

It is exciting to hear that you have a graphic novel idea. I am currently in the works of a graphic novel of sorts, but the going is slow as I recently have tried to seek employment again.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Been out of work for a while now, feel like I should've done so much more work on it with all that free time... but really I want to base it on life.. my own life, and my experiences. So gotta live more life to do that! Plus I wasn't sure exactly what direction I wanted to take with it, until recently and much more so in the past few days.

Any story that an author writes will inherently contain aspects of their life within the work. How much, and in what way varies from author to author.

I usually focus on the more optimistic side of myself, and express it through superheros stories, or science fiction stories in which a hero has to overcome the hardships laid before him.

I feel that a lot of my stories could easily have a few VAC songs as the soundtrack.
I prefer to have the backdrop be these hellish landscapes, or horrendous dissolutions of our current social experiences.

So now I am hearing things about Leary apparently working for the CIA, being an informant etc.

Haven't looked into it enough yet to make my mind up, seems to be another one of those things that has conflicting information on either side and will probably be impossible to ever know the truth.
