I am sad that you can't use hardware, but it doesn't bother me to much. You're resourceful and I'm pretty sure you can come up with some good shit in Renoise.

So far, i don't know. Doesn't change anything. Tools are tools. At this point, V/A hardware's only really better for live performance and ergonomic issues, and frankly, I'll tell any jaded elitist who wants to argue with me just how full of shit they are. You'd be fine with a couple of analogs on your outboard (I'd get a Mopho and a Leipzig if I were in your situation, as I still prefer hardware bass in my own compositions), but use the right shit and you should do well. Just gotta be selective.

Re: What do you think about
just curious, can the standard stuff people use (to listen to music) take advantage of the range good analogue gear produce?

Re: What do you think about
I think it's kind of cool honestly. VAC has always been unique in its own way and that definitely applies to gear too. I'll admit I definitely prefer hardware myself, but I'll be interested to hear what you come up with using only software.

Analogue synths tend to stand out more in a mix, for one. They also have a really pleasing sound when doing something that involves glide/portamento, and are great for a lot of "basic" things. I own a couple of them. Admittedly? You have to know what to listen for to be able to tell which is which a lot of the time, but there's a difference. Not for the better or worse, really, just different characters.

Re: What do you think about
You spend too much time worrying about tools.
One could argue that you made your worst album to date with the best gear to date.
Move on. Make music. Even if you have to bang a stick on a rock.

I think it's cool. If you nail it then it would be inspiring.

Only if you allow such things, so don't I'm not worried, unleash the sound venom!

Re: What do you think about
It's a new musical challenge. Your instruments have changed on every album anyway. Personally I think some analogue bass wouldn't go a miss, but softsynths do pretty well at mid sounds especially when layering, and if anyone can make the best out of software then it's you man.

Re: What do you think about
I'm not bothered by it. If the album is good so far, then go for it.

Re: What do you think about
I'd like to think I've had a fair amount of experience with both analogue gear and software and in my personal opinion, software is a lot more versatile in some ways.
Digital vs Analogue isn't an argument I'm willing to dignify because it's boring.
But what I can say is if you've found a good compliment of plugins and software that work for you, it can seem like a much bigger world to work with.
Personally, I think it's cool that you're going with mainly software. I'll be excited to hear what you're producing for the next era for VAC.
It is a new era for VAC, is it not? So what better than a new you with a bench full of new tools.

It's perfectly fine by me ~ it comes down to what the artist can do.
