Also, I have done a new interview. Click Here to Read. It was with a new radio show and blog called Unfit For Radio. Go there to listen to the show!. This info sheds some light on my opinions on production, the current SG vs Lithium Picnic stuff and the death of toxic coma.
DO NOT EVER WATCH BATTLE ROYALE #2. NEVER. But do watch the original Battle Royale. It is one of my favorite foreign films. The future: Over population, bad economics. Solution: Take most of the kids, put them on an island, and make them kill each other. Sounds like a fun movie to me. Well, it is. Oh, and yes, a lot of people die.
The movie is taken from a manga, it is most probably that the producer cut out certain things from the movie version but in general the story holds together very well and there aren’t any real slow moments. I find there are several strong messages in the movie, certain reflections of society or human nature, this is a movie with a point to it. In this extreme situation the characters have a way out from these trivial matters and make the better of themselves and maybe become or say what they really always wanted to or to come face to face with an enemy they must fight or be killed. You must watch this in japanese with english sub-titles. I give this a 5 out of 5. Click Here To Buy Battle Royale on DVD
I’m sorry, the mainstream just didn’t get it. I’m still very pissed off that this show was canceled. Why? Because it kicks the crap out of all the Stargate shows. It stomps all over star wars. It is way more fun than star trek, it is truly strange as space would be. It has better characters that are much more realistic personality wise. I think the muppets in the show had more personality than the entire cast of stargate sg1.
So many cool episodes. So many cool stories and characters. Kick ass bad guys and nefarious space merchants and doctors. My favorite episodes are “DNA MAD SCIENTIST”, where this crazy doctor with super manipulated genes turns Erin into a pilot alien. “THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS”, where their ship gets stuck in starburst mode, and splits into 3 dimensions. This is so trippy and cool. It’s insane, the blue one with the audio hallucination and the puking. This is fucking weird. Not to mention, Scorpius has to be one of the best villains of all time. I love the lighting (reminds me of dario argento). I love the muppets and alien creatures all over the serious that use animatronic muppetry. I don’t give a fuck what people think, these muppets RULE!
Farscape is dark, fucked up, realistic in terms of how people really are, and over all depressing a lot of the time. I think this is why people hated it. Underneath all the darkness lies hope, struggle, and teamwork. I think this series addressed alien sexuality in a way everyone else in the genre was to afraid to even consider. There are many redeeming things about this series that a lot of people didn’t stick around to watch. Sure there are a few really bad episodes, especially the re-hash let’s catch the viewer up to date ones. I loved the make up effects as well. Many of the actors on the show are Australian, I think this helped the series have a new twist and vibe that was really needed in the sci-fi genre. My favorite Characters are Chiana, Scorpius, Zhaan, Crichton, and Rygel. Give this a chance, it is really cheesy at times, but it makes up for it. I love over 75% of the episodes. So that really says something for me, I’m pretty picky. To buy this, well its impossible now i think, the first season is out of print. So, good old netflix is the way to go. Rent this, and watch it all. Do not get the peacekeeper wars movie first, watch this last, if you don’t, it ruins a lot of surprises in the series. I give this a 5 out of 5. A must for any science fiction geek, especially if you are fucked up like me :).
Zombies that can shoot guns :) Dig it! Story is pretty simple, immortals trying to get to another dimension, but use the blood of a certain someone to open the door. This is a beat em up. This is yet another Japanese movie with some extremely colorful characters. You have a small cast but every character sticks out with their own style and personality. The hero is cool and all of the bad guys he must face in this movie. Then there are the funny and stupid characters that are just hilarious. Even if none of these actors will win an award for their performance, each of the characters were unique and great: from the wussy stupid yakuza to the unbelievable poser cop! The characters are a very important part of the movie, if they were not all interesting and unique this movie would have probably been less interesting.
There are a lot of great fight scenes. I love the zombie stuff. It kind of looks low budget, but it is done well. I like B movies like this. If you compare it to something like the matrix it’s lame, but i don’t so. rent it! or if you are rich, buy it. I give this a 3 and a half out of 5. Click here to buy VERSUS on DVD.
I normally loath reality TV. For some reason I love LA INK. Probably because the girls kick ass. I love the art and the show is heavy. People really open up when they get ink’d and it does in fact make for interesting TV. Sure you get a little LA plastic, but you really do get to see the human side of the people on the show. All the artists are interesting to me. To me this is a fine art and not just junk or trash like some idiots tend to think. I only have one self given tat on my entire body. Someday, I might get more work done who knows. I must say I really like tats, and when I see good work on people, I always compliment it. I have tried to watch the other ink shows, but for some reason I just preferred the vibe of KAT’s shop and artists. I like how it tends to show a balanced side of the business, feminine, and masculine. Corey is great too, his free hand is amazing. If your into tats check out this show. They have a lot of musicians and celebrities come in as well. It’s on TLC. Click Here to check out their site.
This is a cult classic. Started as an anime, but then a live action film was made out of it. I prefer the live action film honestly. The goriest kung fu movie ever made. Very cheesy. But the best kind of cheese. I rank this up there with evil dead 2 in the gore factor. This is one of my favorite martial arts films. This came out in 1991 in asia. I think 1993 in america.
The main character is blessed with super human strength. He can punch through people and also punch them and make them explode. This movie contains some of my all time favorite fight scenes. Intestines are used as a weapon. I mean it’s pretty far out. The story takes place in a prison. A dystopian world where global warming has ruined society. My favorite scene in this movie is where the main character’s arm get’s cut, then in the middle of a fight, he ties his severed tendons back together with one hand and his mouth. Hhahaahahaahah.
If you are into super violent and gory films, this is not the film you want to pass up. I’m seriously amazed that most people do not even know about this film and that is why I decided to shed some light on it. In my top 10 for gory and horror films. Be sure and buy this, I have watched it 20 times at least, I show to people every chance I get.. Click here to buy Story of Ricky on DVD.
