What do I like about bleach? It’s much better in japanese that is for sure. I really like episodes 30 through 67. The characters are great. Sometimes it gets boring, depends on which episodes. Over all, its typical. It has a lot of epic fight scenes that I really love. Kenpachi is my favorite character. This is a supernatural super samurai anime. Spirit world, Possession. Very strange in some ways, but very cool as well. Hollows are evil spirits, and then there are the good spirits which fight the hollows and protect mankind from evil. The shinigami(angels of death) are the good guys in this one. Kind of neat.
The above is one ov my favorite fights. Watch the whole thing. I have to kind of slam bleach for being way too long. It has the inuyasha, help me, i’m too long, and its all the same after a while complex. I love anime, but sometimes they really know how to beat a dead horse. It’s kind of stupid. I prefer them short and sweet like bebop. I give this series a 3.5 out of 5. When it’s good, it’s amazing, when its bad, its a snore fest. They do a good job of building the characters, but sometimes that is where it falls apart. I recommend seeing this for free if you can.
I know people are going to complain. But I don’t care. I LOVE NARUTO! I don’t care. Most people see it on the cartoon network in english, which really makes it worse. In japanese it’s very good. The battles are epic, The characters are great. In fact some of my favorite characters in anime are in this series. GAARA! He is my favorite character for sure. I also really like Kakashi. Sure it centers around the brat naruto. But I love misfits, I was a misfit growing up. Much like naruto, so i can relate to it. Sure this is uber emo. But I love sad depressing stories and violence and epic supernatural martial arts battles. It can be campy and funny in the same manner that Kenshin was. But I don’t care, in fact I think that is why I like it so much. It goes from being light hearted and silly, to super depressing, angry, and super evil. The original Naruto, follows the story when naruto is still a kid.
But Naruto Shippûden deals with the cast as they become teenagers. This is where it gets way more serious and dark. Gaara. poor gaara. Seriously. This gets really good, The Fight between Naruto and Orochimaru is very cool.
I recommend these highly. But don’t buy it, its so over priced, you can find streams of it online by clicking here for naruto. And Here for Naruto ShippĂ»den. This is TV in japan, paid for by advertisers.
This anime has a strong femme feel to it. Heavy on the relationship romance stuff. I still really liked it. It has this uber sad heaviness to the whole thing. It deals with war, and how idiotic mankind can be. The story is pretty strong, although i do recomend watching this in japanese with sub titles, because the english voice acting kind of got on my nerves. The characters are kind of normal. Nothing too original here, but the story makes up for it. It is not the best looking anime out there, but is not near the bottom at all in regards to visuals. Visually it is above average.
This is a series, so it’s about 2 dvds long. Despite some of the cheesy love story parts, I still think this is avery cyber punk anime and that is what makes me forgive any of it’s short comings. I give this a 3 and a half out of 5. rent if you can, or Click here to buy the complete Saikano box set.
The heart and soul of this anime is most definitely “you cannot escape your past”. This is a space based bounty hunter anime. My favorite stuff. This sits in the middle of my top ten easily. Very likable characters. Lots of cool side plots. In my opinion this is Shinichiro Watanabe’s best work. He also did Samurai champloo as well. The theme music is funny, I found it annoying at first, but it grew on me. This is 6 dvds, and about 26 episodes. So it’s a fair size, and really does deliver. I could watch 100 episodes easily. But it is better to leave you wanting more than to run it into the bloody ground ala Inuasha(just end it all ready). Faye is easily one of my favorite anime heroines. Pretty realistic in personality. Sure some of the character types are very stereotypical and predictable, but that didn’t put me off at all. I can still watch this anime over and over, it never gets old for me.
They used to play this on TV, but man they censored the hell out of it. So go rent it if you are broke, netflix has it. Or if you are like me, you gotta own it, because it has so much replay value. My favorite episode is “Mushroom Samba”. This is so friggen hilarious. They all start tripping. It so psychedelic. I love it! I give this a 5 out of 5. Death Note. This is one of those anime series that had me riveted from the beginning. Sure the story kind of moves slow. There is some times a lack of action. What is lacking in action is more than made up for with intelligent story telling, and a very psychological intense scenario. A high school kid finds a note book, if he sees a picture, and knows their name, he can write it in the book and kill them, and write how it will happen. This power corrupts. The story gets intense as they call in a special investigator who is as witty and intelligent as the killer. The two battle in a chess match of death.
For sure this is one of the best anime to hit the shelves in the past 10 years. If you are into intelligent story telling, and character driven anime, I highly recommend this. This is a very cool dark and Erie series. Perfect for us weirdos. Check it… I give this a 5 out of 5. Click here to buy Death Note.
Utopia, Dystopia. a Future tale. Character driven. Interesting story. Starts kind of slow and drags in parts. But over all this is a great anime series. I love the art style. Starts out with the main character not knowing what or who he is. I don’t want to give away to much so. Any how, there are these regions in their world, with ergo proxy to watch over each. The autoraves are probably my favorite aspect of the entire story. They are personal slave robots for the rich aristocrats of the cities. Some use the autoraves to replace people. Somehow the autoraves inherit a soul and makes the humans freak out. Over all this is a very psychological anime. But don’t worry, because there is enough action stuff to keep it from getting boring. The art is well done and very end of the world looking. The music is pretty good too, I love how they use the “paranoid android by radio head” as the closing credit music.
This really makes the cyberpunk in me happy. This is definatly one of the better dark animes out on the market today. I highly recommend renting or buying this series. I give this anime a 4 out of 5. Click here to buy Ergo Proxy.
