VAC has been in limbo. I have about 6 tracks, but doing vocals has really been tough on this new material. It’s Like I’m learning to sing again. Trying harmonies and all kinds of things. I feel like I must improve a lot on the vocals to make a better impact on the new lp. My living conditions are hampering me now. On top of that, because of how bad the economy is, I’ve had to get a full time job, physical stuff, and getting used to it is a little hard. I have even less time to work on things now. I think this lp wont see the light of day until next year. I know. It bumbs me out too. But if i put out what I have now, it wont be good enough. I have to work harder on it.

There might be some live shows before a new lp comes out. I might hit the road with Todd’s new band. VAC and TG. TG(he will announce the new name soon) is what we will call Todd’s band now. Let me say, todd just got his mastering done on his new lp. I had nothing to do with the song writing or anything on his project, I only gave him some advice. Its really good. The vocals are really great. The recordings are amazing. In terms of productions, I think its better than VAC. I would say that it sounds like a cross between, david bowie, nine inch nails, and the legendary pink dots. Its fucking cool. I think he will have a myspace soon. I’m going to try and help him shop the record around. I am going to promote the hell out of it to you guys. So even though vac is in la la land. Todd’s solo stuff is coming soon. Todd is a member of velvet acid christ since lust for blood. So he is tied to this project. We are still working together on VAC as well. Now that he is finished with his project, we will be finishing off the new vac together. As far as this blog goes, full time job + VAC means no time for video games, and movies. So no new anime, or video game reviews for a little while. I have the new metal gear, and from what I have played of it, its the best game ever. Go pick it up. I also really like the battle field bad company demo as well, i will buy that game as well. Fro has finally joined the VAC klan on PS3 network. So we are kicking it again old school, even though his lame ass moved to Iowa.

I will be doing a podcast again soon, probably later today. look for it.

Ok, now for the new lp, well, It is coming real slow. I am stuck on the vocals for faded. Still building my weak voice up, I have not done vocals since lust for blood, and my voice is really out of shape. I have about 4 tracks done, but I am still working on the vocals. and yes, This new lp is a strange thing, there is a lot of acoustic guitar on it. It is very heavily influenced by Neo-Folk. I am also heavily influenced by death in june, madonna, new young pony club, ladytron, and astral projection as well. So this lp is turning out a lot different than I planned. I am playing a lot more guitar, but it is not hurting the vac sound at all. I’m trying to really put out the best vocals I have even done on this new lp. A lot of it is clean. I’m trying to be a better vocalist this time around. I only plan on doing 8 tracks for the new lp in total. I am not doing a super long lp like LFB was. I am not working with todd on this lp after all. I think this will be a solo lp, about the only he helped me on was the phucking phreak remake and one other track. So his involvement on this lp is very minimal.

And yes, I am planning a tour for late summer. I think it will be USA only though. Maybe canada. I will not leave the us until there is a new president and the crappy foreign policy in us politics changes. Well, if I get offered a ton of money, I might consider europe. who knows. Eric never calls me, so it looks like I wont be working with eric. So far it looks like todd and I, maybe one other person, I have my eye on a female bassist from out east, but I wont get hopes up, because shit hardly ever works out, like with eric. oh well.

What is new? I had to fix my modular. The plan b oscillators would not old scaling calibration in my modular set up. So i traded them in for the MFB OSC-01 triple dco for super stable osc. And a moog freqbox for a wild heavily fat drifty osc that have way more beef than any modular osc on the market today. I also picked up the Polivoks filter, didn’t like it at first, but learned what it was good at, resonant bass. I will write reviews of this stuff soon so look for it. This held up production. I think i like my gear setup now, but i really miss having an analog poly synth. I have my SH-2, and my modular, and my FR Revolution for analogs. But it’s not enough. I really want a polysix for strings. But those are a pain in the ass, I need midi hahhahaha. I might sell some more stuff.

I have no idea what musical direction I am going into. I am noticing that lately I am a huge fan of death in june, new young pony club, mstrkrft, the knife, LCD Soundsystem, Digitalism, The Horrors, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ladytron and the 80s new wave and goth. Lust for blood was good, but dark, and i think vac needs to lighten up a little and make catchier songs. FWK worked that way. I don’t want to just do techno or industrial. I want to make timeless songs that don’t always fit into one genre. I’m running out of time. I’m looking in other directions for inspiration now, because I feel the goth industrial ebm thing is way over played out and over saturated with home studio acts. I’m really not into clubbing anymore because of it. Who knows. I hope i can still progress and have an edge that is not just industrial and techno. I want more than this for my project. I dont want to make complete gloomy records anymore. I want a balance of songs that touch on all moods and ideas and emotions. VAC may drastically change.. who knows. If I don’t pick up production on the new LP soon, there wont be any live shows, so i had better figure this out quick..

In my modular, the plan B model 15 oscillators failed me, is not stable enough for my tastes. I simply got tired of having to calibrate the keyboard scaling every time I turned the unit on. Oh well. I am very glad to say that Shawn of Analog Haven and I worked out a deal to work this out. I still want a plan b model 09 though. Plan b is good, I think I just got a couple of sour modules.

What am I replacing the model 15s with? MFB OSC-01 triple DCO oscillators that sound more like a juno 106 and sh-101 but super stable and scale almost perfectly. DCOs are great, but do lack a little warmth and lower frequencies. Not to worry, I will add a Moog Freq Box that will work just like any oscilator in my rig, controlled with cv. This is an oscillator from the minimoog voyager. This will fatten up my dcos nicely.. The voyager oscillators track great so i should have no problem. THIS DEMO of the Harvestman Polivoks Filter is mindblowing. I love my bitcrusher from Harvestman. In fact that is what kept me from selling off the modular. That polivoks sounds simply amazing. WOW. A while back I used to layer my juno 106 and micromoog together and would get huge sounds. Now I will have that with better filters. I cannot wait to get all this.. I will post reviews of it once I have it for a week.

UPDATE: I’m taking a few days off from the blog. need a break. worked through the entire holiday season.

A very complex Question. As of right now it is Bryan Erickson aka Disease Factory(as vocalist and musicians) aka Hexfix93(As producers and engineer): Plays Keybaords and Synths, Drums, Guitars, Bass, Vocals, Lyrics, Producer, Engineer, Mixing, Programming fx and synths. Todd Loomis aka Elegia: Plays guitars, and keyboards and synths, some drum work. I will work on a track with Erick Kosnar as well, we’ll see how that goes. VAC started in 1990 in Boulder Colorado. Inventor and founding member is Bryan Erickson, Bryan has been the leader in every incarnation and line up of the project since it’s inception.

We finally have a live band in the works, The line up might be, Disease Factory, Elegia(maybe), and Hypostasis and maybe Eric Kosnar of Darker Days Tomorrow/Emergence(this depends on some things and may or may not happen). This will probably be the live band during the upcoming 2008 Velvet Acid Christ world tour. Hope this gives my fans some hope. Nothing is written in stone, but so far I think these guys on will be on board for shows. We plan on having a new VAC record out in spring or fall, and a tour in the summer. I will be adding a Current band members page to this site very soon. No mater what, i am touring in 2008, even if all my hair falls out.. ahahaahahah

The New LP to come out in 2008 is called “Songs for Villains: Hymn’s ov the Apocalypse.” . So far we have 4 songs finished, Phucking Phreak 2008, Killed In Space(i’m on the fence on this track though, it might not make the final cut), Caustic Itch, and Faded. We only plan on making all new vac cds 45 to 50 minutes long, so 8 to 9 songs maximum. We will not do any singles in the future. If we decide to do covers, they will be online releases only for sale through Itunes or amazon. Our production is much better this time, we have mastered many daws, fx units and mixing analog. This has really improved our production, we have high end fx, great converters, great hardware compressors, mics, guitars, amps, mixers, synths and a desire to make dark brilliant songs that are catchy and memorable. We are making huge strides.

Also Todd/Elegia has made a lot of progress on his solo project. I’m hoping it will open for VAC instead of toxic coma this is not confirmed either. Toxic Coma has no plans as of now. We lost a member in Toxic Coma, so I don’t know what will happen with that side project as of now. Todd’s project is pretty cool. It sounds nothing like vac, but it is electronic. Hopefully soon we will have some demo tracks online for us to listen to..

I finally updated my links to buy all my cds, in the discography. You can now click to buy from metropolis, itunes, and amazon. I recommend amazon because it’s drm free, meaning it will play on any device, itunes stuff must be played with ipods only, that sucks. If you have an ipod I recommend itunes, if you have anything else, I recommend amazon. Amazon also has superior sound Quality as well. I have been very happy with all the CD mp3s I have downloaded from Amazon.com. And The price if you buy the full LP is form 7.99 to 9.99 on average. I make more money that way as well(online sales that is). I am picky, and a lot of the cds I cannot find in stores around here. Amazon is great and has a lot of stuff up now.

Also, you can buy t-shirts for lust with blood still. Very cool shirts I think. good art.. Look to the right, there are links to amazon, itunes, and my shirts. Just click on the images.

Anyway, Thats all for now. Take care, and enjoy the updates..
