Vac News: June 23rd, 2009.

Wrote 2 new songs. They are both almost done. One called Catastrophe, and one called Skinned Alive. Catastrophe(was inspired by old xmal, and dij, and christian death), spooky goth dance music, Skinned Alive is new wave ebm/industrial and totally aggressive and mean(was inspired old suicide commando). I am having a bitch of a time finding good samples that I really like these days, so the LP is kind of thin on samples. I have to put some finishing touches on mixes, some sound fx in a couple of places. I took more time to add a little more to the LP because it has been 3 years since LFB. I want to make sure I have something for every type of vac fan on this LP, and I think I nailed it so far. Production has improved again. So, I really love the sound quality of this LP, and the use of all the acoustic Guitars. I am really happy with how this lp has turned out. I have sung my heart out. I have played so many instruments, and made a varied lp again. I just hope the art work, the promotions, and my press photos all come together…

As an artist, to the world.

June 17th, 2009 by Hexfix93

Honestly, What is my mission? I tell stories, I use my real feelings to relay them. I use my talent to build it. Am I a leader? NO, I hate power when it comes to others. I only want control over my own destiny. Is my music to live by? NO, stories. Some true, some fiction. But I am not a moral compass, a bible, a politician, a law maker. I only make art, like a movie, like a painting, but with sound. It is that, that only, I have no motivation to change the world, or people. If I can make someone relate and feel something that is really all I want. Nothing more, nothing less. So if any of you look up to me in some ridiculous way as an ICON. Remember, be inspired artistically, use your head to figure out the rest, I am no leader.

Vac news, June 15th 2009.

I just finished a new song called Killing a Stranger. It is the last song on the lp. I decided to drop one of the tracks and replace it with this. So this lp is now officially more of a folk goth rock pop industrial lp, with like 3 dance club type tracks. I am really proud of it. Most of it needs mastering, need to brighten the sound up a bit, I have such crappy software eqs that I cannot eq after the fact, so if i do not brighten stuff up before i go in, i am screwed. On the whole mix with a mastering EQ it will fix everything. I am going to do a once over and mix all the tracks, I should have this lp shipped to the mastering company, BURNIE GRUNDMAN in 2 weeks or so with any luck. The LP is called “…”(still trying to figure it out). It really fits the mood. Isolation, depression, 3 years of having no one real or close to you besides 1 band mate. Alone. That is what this lp sounds like, A sad industrial guy playing a lot of acoustic guitar. This lp sounds so different for VAC, Clean vocals. More intimate and naked sounding. You get to hear a lot of my whiney upper mid range voice. The thing I was so afraid of showing the world for so many years and hid behind a distorted evil psycho mask. I am still the psycho weirdo but sounding more heart felt and sad. I put more energy into making the songs sound good and be more minimal and easier for casual listeners to get into it. Not to sell out, but I found that simpler music is easier to mix and easier to get it to sound more professional and like the stuff you hear on the radio as far as production. I do not feel like this has hurt things, I made the songs on average about 4 minutes long, so they don’t drag on. Well one is 8 minutes, heh. oh well.

I have not picked a track order. I know who will help me though, Stefan Herwig. Yup. I am working with dependent again. He does do a good job, so I am really looking forward to it again.

The web site did transform. I put the media blog up as well in a rough beta form. This site will contain all the gear stuff I talk about, synth reviews and pro audio stuff. I don’t care if I piss people off. Whatever. So that stuff stays. But the medai stuff like other bands, models, video games, art, photography, dj, and interviews and magazine type stuff all is on www.electricdethtripmedia.com. I felt like VAC was getting lost in all that magazine stuff, like people would come here for vac news and be like, WTF is all this shit???? LOL. Seriously, The band got drown in a sea of media. I did not want to focus of this site to neglect VAC. So I had to separate them. I feel this is a much better solution. I am getting people to help me with EDT media as well. I need art for that site big time. I hope someone can help with the art for that site, it really needs it. So any how, I think I fixed the web site dilemma.

lates.

Vac news. April 22nd.

Ok, now I only have to sing to two tracks. The lp is about 45 minutes long, it is really two eps on one lp. A new style for vac, side a Folk goth industrial rock. And side b some new groove style techno mixed with old goa trance. The lp sounds like what I have become over the last 3 years, BI POLAR. Two opposites on one CD. Plus the bonus material will make you think I am insane and that is what I want. The bonus material will add about 70 more minutes to the whole LP. The bonus material will be mp3s as a data track on the CD. The bonus material will only be accessible if you copy it to your computer and put it on an ipod or listen to it on the computer, you can also burn the bonus mp3 stuff to cd. Twisted Thought Generator had hidden content like this as well. If you didn’t know about that, put ttg in your computer and pull the bonus mp3 files off it and listen. The main lp I have explained in other posts. So we are looking at a fall release for “Black Rainbows” if all works out. This will be the best bang for the buck CD I have ever released. It will have almost 120 minutes of music on it when all is said and done. You will think it was worth the wait after you listen to all the tracks on it. it is 3 years of material easily. From sad melancholy, to aggressive dance groove techno, to complete insanity. Yes. What a strange lp it is. I really like it. I honestly feel like I have written some of the best songs I ever have. I have sang really clean on 3 tracks, and it sounds like something really new, my vocal production has improved in the clean style. I’ve shown people, and they have said things like this:

“Your voice is amazing”. “This is the most intimate you have ever sounded” and “it reminds me of the Fate era of VAC, which is one of my favorites. I think the production of the vocals gives the song a haunting, hollow feel. Definitely captures the feelings of loneliness that you said that the song is about”. Some say it has a hint of shoe gaze in it as well. And some said, “wow this reminds me of old man with no name”. So the feedback I have gotten back from some of my friends has been really encouraging. Lets just hope the rest of the world receives it in the same way. I am pretty humble. I am caught up in the production of it so I am blind to some of it now, and am in my own world of it which is a lot different from the way others perceive it. I just hope it all turns out well. Mastering, Art. The whole package. Thanks for your patience over all these years. I really do care about you fans. Peace out. Bryan……

Update. 03 31 2009

So I have not had time to work on the web site. Bare with me, it will be a little while, I’ll try and get some new reviews and stuff up soon. I have been working non stop on vac and stuff. Been tough. I have had to write and re write lyrics, sing and re sing over and over. Been trying really hard to nail these songs so you can listen to them over and over and over and not get sick of them. Trying to perfect them the best I can. This is such a new slash old VAC sound. The First half of the VAC LP Is like between the eyes vol 2(fate) on steroids with acoustic guitars(but really, it’s only vaguely like fate). A toy box sound. The second half is like if VAC sat with juno reactor, slimmed and simplified the sound, focused on groove. Really acidic dance. Lots of tb 303ish lines and wet filters. This is a huge lp. Well, its 2 eps with a hidden LP. So its a ton of music. It is worth the wait. I am making this like an old tape release. Side A is the dark folk goth rock side. Side B is the electronic acidic trippy side. The hidden is well, hidden and a surprise. On Side A, the vocals are really clean. Hardly any distortion on the vocals. It will surprise you. Most of the people I have played it for really like it and say it is really different but really well done and produced. I like it as well. I’m not so down on myself as a vocalist any more. :) Let’s just hope I can get this out as soon as I can. I am truly sorry for the long delay, It really has taken me this long to get my sound right and get my spirit back into the music. I am really blessed with the gear purchases I have made in the last 2 years. The Modular, acoustic guitar, and lexicon pcm 96 verb and distressors have really played a huge role in how the new record sounds. Huge, droning, pretty, heavy, big and musical. I am hoping this is a new chapter that really branches VAC out into many new directions, new fans and old fans. New scenes and old scenes. Clubs, Movies, Radio. I hope to nail all places this time. Ambitious. I hope it all works out. Peace… out. Hexfix93

VAC NEWS: Titles Change

March 16th, 2009 by Hexfix93

vacnews.jpg
Wow, so yeah i write lyrics, sing, then i get annoyed with it, so i scrap it, write something completely new, and now wow its coming together correctly.

The way i envisioned it. I’m finding my first attempts at vocals don’t cut it, but the 2nd and 3 start overs for the lyrics to the melodies really does help me make something more worth while.

The problem is, it’s painstakingly slow..

So now, i am working on finishing song #3. I had 3 done, but re did them to make them better, now it is.

A while back i posted song titles, wow, hardly any of them have the same titles, even the lp name changed.. It’s strange how working titles sometimes totally miss the mark… Oh well. I live and learn.

All i can say for sure is, this is the first time my voice has been so naked and up front, in all the songs so far. No hyper distortion, I don’t even sound like the same vocalist from the last vac records. It’s so strange. But I LOVE IT. I don’t mean to hype it. But I compared the song black rainbows with some old cure, off the head on the door, and my sound quality and vocals sound up there with that lp. I’m so happy about it, i never thought i could get up to a level like that but i think I have. I just hope you are ready for an lp that is kind of retro with a twist, song orinted, death and june, meets the cure and sisters of mercy, but with a strange vocalist and a more electro sound production with acoustic guitars.

I am so proud of this work so far. I want to hurry and get it out there, but I really am spending the right amount of time with the songs and lyrics and melodies to make this something you can listen to over and over and not get sick of it. NO LONG INTROS like on crushed(i think that hurt that song), everything is tight, to the point and starts right off.

Production is good in a style i have never done before. I’m happy about it, and I have not been happy about much in my life in a long long time. So this really makes me into VAC again.
