October 27th, 2009 at 10:31 am
Im so excited for this album to be in my hands!! I’ve listened to your recordings about the songs and it blows my mind that you do so much work. I plan on buying it soon when i have some extra cash, I really hope it is not too far away from some of the other kinda oldish VAC. She bleeds red stuff like that! But either way I do not think it is possible for you guys to lose touch with the great sound you stream out. And thanks for giving me something in life to look forward to :D Have fun!

oh yea and I do not even wanna know what is going on in the background in your podcast 7.Killed in Space & Amnesia at about 5 minutes and 4 sec into it… then it turns into the funkish music LOL
October 27th, 2009 at 11:19 am
LOL its funny.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:28 am
Not available in MP3 on Amazon.co.uk … it sucks seriously
October 27th, 2009 at 11:45 am
I just can’t wait … still have to wait until 6th november … aaaarrrrgh :-)
October 27th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Heading to some cds shops to try to track it down. :) Hopefully I can find a copy.
October 27th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
Well I’ve been listening to the new album all morning, and I think it’s some of your best work for sure. It’s a little too early to be certain, but it’s shaping up as my favorite album of yours, every song is so great. Best of luck with everything.
October 27th, 2009 at 1:06 pm
Thank you. I really like my lp as well, one of the firsts I have truly been pretty happy with all the way through.
October 27th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
What and album..! Sounds more live than anything you’ve ever done. If you don’t come to Germany and play this live, I’ll be furious
October 27th, 2009 at 1:26 pm
Success! 14.99 @ twist n shout in the down town denver area. Only saw 2 more copies left.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
OK, If I can’t get it on Amazon.co.uk I am going to be pissed. Seriously, Metropolis should have sorted this out I was one of the first that pre-ordered it. This is seriosuly frustrating.
October 27th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
It’s dependent, they cannot do a release on the same day. NO FUCKING IDEA WHY EITHER.
Seriously, why the 6th? Why so much later? then they wonder why people pirate. YEAH!!!!
The lp gets hyped, and reviews, people can’t wait to get it, so instead of going to itunes, or amazon, they go find it on the net free. So stupid.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:13 pm
I’m pissed at Metropolis for not shipping the pre-orders on Saturday or Monday so that it would arrive today. Oh well… I’m off to go try to track down a copy – if that fails, it’s at least on iTunes…
October 27th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
I adore the wallpapers, btw. Are you thinking of doing any more?
October 27th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
just ordered the CD from amazon.com i’ll get it on thursday I can’t wait!!!
October 27th, 2009 at 3:38 pm
Alright so I bought it on amazon.co.uk (CD version) but it’s gonna take a while before I get it :(
Thanks for your music Brian, you’re really my favorite band (VAC = 3701 plays on my last.fm account).
October 27th, 2009 at 3:40 pm
Getting it later today!!!
October 27th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
I love the new LP, but it only makes me want to see you perform live even more.
Bryan, please tour the USA somehow. I live in Hawaii, but I’m originally from Colorado Springs. I’d travel to anywhere you played. Surely you can at least put together a show at the Bluebird or something… At least as a test run.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
I forgot to mention that Clive Barker bought a copy of the new LP. He’s become quite fond of your music. I have your music playing whenever I fly to his studio for a photo shoot.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
I don’t remember this happening with LFB. Oh well, nothing I can do. With the UK postal strike it could take even longer.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
Hey, tell Clive that I would love to interview him for my media blog!
I love his work so much as well.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Because I WAS NOT ON DEPENDENT ON LUST FOR BLOOD.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
I’ll shoot Clive an e-mail. He’s been feeling under the weather lately due to his throat polyps. Can you send me an e-mail and I’ll see to it that he gets it?
October 27th, 2009 at 8:46 pm
To be honest, I’m kind of disapointed :/
Miss the old “bass, hardcore, trance, hater” things you had on Fun With Knives/Twisted/LFB … it seems to be too soft.
Anyway I’m tired, I will listen to it tomorrow with more attention and I’m sure there will be some songs that I will love !
October 27th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Not a single Best Buy is selling AoBA in my region, so I gave in and bought it on iTunes… Bryan, this is your best work. I am in love with this album. I have experimented with acoustic over synth but you perfect it. Vaporized is my favorite – I see this storming the clubs (at least I’d like it to). I love how the reverb from the acoustic melody sounds like you are just ever so quietly humming the melody. I would love to hear that in a remix.
Great work – don’t ever stop.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
One last note….
Phucking Phreak was the song that hooked me on VAC. I didn’t think it could get better–did you surprise the hell out of me. Phucked Up Phreak just makes me grin the whole way through… Thank you for such an incredible revival of this VAC masterpiece.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
Congratulations on the release! VAC is definitely back with a vengeance.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:18 pm
Guess what I have been over the last 3 years?
Broke, Depressed, Single, Alone, Friends are all gone, don’t hang out with anyone.
How do you think my lp should sound when the only emotion you feel is sadness?
October 27th, 2009 at 11:35 pm
the new album blows my mind, i absolutly love the acoustics on the album, keep up the great work, you continue to inspire us all.
October 28th, 2009 at 7:32 am
I retire what I said ! I love it !
October 28th, 2009 at 9:01 am
God damnit, I still have to wait for the album :(
But I listen to VAC every day, to bring myself into VAC mood, yeah! No way would I download the new album.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:45 am
I got my hands on it :-),
the art of breaking apart just roxx,
again a very good effort.
Killing a stranger reminds me a bit of the music in diablo 1 when being in town :-)
But of course I can’t really tell now,
some months have to go by to really evaluate your work.
But the first impression is really good :-).
And this doesn’t happen too often with me ;-)
I really like your new side with the acoustic gothic sound, though you already gave a hint on that in some songs in fun with knives, but still it is very different from fwk and equally good, for my taste even better :-)
October 28th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
OK, so… I used to be a die-hard vac fanatic. Truly. TTG was my favorite piece. I was disappointed with the last two albums. (I hate to say it, but it’s true) They had their good parts and some memorable tracks, but the ability to listen over and over wasn’t there for me. I really missed the epic. Saw it come back some in polyester meth zeus and ghost in the circuit. Anyway, I buy the new lp pop it in and listen… hmmm… interesting. You have sucked me back in!!! Particularly the last half of the album. It really brought me back to that broken emotional feeling from childhood. I feel as though I have been so numb… becoming an alcoholic loser er something. This album has given me something no other has in the last few years. I love it!!! It really brings tears to my eyes and a smile to my face. Thank you Bryan, your work and time and heart did not go unnoticed. Thank you thank you thank you
October 28th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
Yea I was in class listening to it and all the sudden i bursted out laughing because it did not make any sense! After getting weird looks I decided it would not make much sense to try to explain the sudden laughter. So weird looks it is!
October 29th, 2009 at 1:39 am
driving an hour to attempt and snag one friday and if not hitting the itunes… SUPER EXCITED i get a road trip AND a new cd… thanks for the best weekend this month and its only thursday.
October 29th, 2009 at 5:01 am
Just received the CD in Japan, fast shipping from metropolis :)
Well, great job Bryan, love this album !!

Absolutely stunning album. The acoustic tracks are by far the best cuts. Black Rainbows, Killing a Stranger, and Amnesia are astounding. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were approached to use Black Rainbows as say an opening to a tv show or a movie.
The remake of Phucking Phreak I think may be better than the original. The new synth parts are especially good. I liked how you cut it shorter than the original too, the ending is much better this time around (you really didn’t need the “Whats in the box?” samples, imho).
All in all this is one hell of an album. The more I listen the more I like it. You never cease to amaze me, and this album has great crossover appeal. I really hope more people recognize your great art and pick up this album. Wonderful job and keep up the good work. Minnesota loves you!
Btw, don’t know if it matters now, but Metropolis sent this to me last friday, the 23rd. I ain’t complaining, I’ve been rocking this for the whole week!
October 31st, 2009 at 3:28 am
God damn, Bryan, the new album is incredible. It really pushes the boundaries and redefines industrial music. Absolutely your best album ever. After hearing this, I’d love to get you to remix one of my songs for my upcoming album.
November 1st, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Very strange to listen to the new album. An 100% Acoustic one even would be better. I do like this new VAC style. The title track is great! In spite of I´m a Fan of the oldish works, also…. The electro tracks with the exessive movie samples don´t fit as well…
November 1st, 2009 at 3:03 pm
Fit to what? your idea of what something should be?
I was fine with it.
November 1st, 2009 at 3:46 pm
sure..but i mean they don´t fit to the rest harmonic, acustic tracks. only my opinion.
November 1st, 2009 at 3:49 pm
Um, go to a club some time, its called varied music, lps dont need to be uniform, that makes for boring and stale crap, i hate buying an lp were the same vibe is on the whole lp.
November 1st, 2009 at 4:52 pm
while every track is amazing in it’s own respect, i kinda just froze when i heard Faithless…
i’ve heard plenty of “cool” music over the years, but until this album, i’ve forgotten what it feels like to be deeply and utterly moved by it.
this album reaks of sincerity, and i hope VAC gets the recognition it deserves with this one.
November 2nd, 2009 at 2:54 am
the art of breaking apart is beautiful.
November 3rd, 2009 at 4:44 am
not a fan sorry to say. some alright stuff. black rainbows is great. the rest i didnt care for. i just find it rather boring compared to the chaos of the old style *shrugs* cant win them all. but keep up the good work lots of other people love it ;)
November 3rd, 2009 at 4:45 am
well phucked up phreak was good too i like it over the original.
November 3rd, 2009 at 9:50 am
Well, don’t give up on VAC. I do plan on doing more music that doesn’t sound like this in the future.
I wanted to make a simple lp, with catchy songs that appeal to people who like sad songs. A lot of VAC fans like tripped out angry stuff, and there is not a lot of that on this lp, I was really sad when I made this record. It works for some, and not for others.
Sorry that I don’t agree with the nay sayers, i think the lp is really good, and very interesting. I guess it’s not your taste is all.
November 3rd, 2009 at 9:51 am
Oh and also, the single is pretty more old school VAC, so you might like the single over the lp.
November 3rd, 2009 at 8:44 pm
alright, I really wanted to wait until I had time to do a proper reply, so sorry for the delay in writing back. Anyway! I’m sorry to hear that the new album has pissed off some of the older fans. I mean, I have to admit…when I first heard “Black Rainbows” on the new Septic compilation, I was like “well, it’s definitely interesting! Not sure how I really feel about it, I’ll just wait until I can hear the entire new album before I make any opinions.” And I’m really glad that I did, because it’s a great album.
Honestly, I’m really not that surprised to hear that some of the fans of the older stuff are pissed off…not that they have any right to be, I’m just saying that the SAME thing happened when Apoptygma Berzerk decided to change musical styles – going from the dancey futurepop stuff to the more indie rock sound. And I’m not going to lie, I was one of the people who wasn’t thrilled about that at all. So, all I can say is that I’m not surprised to hear that some are pissed off.
The thing is this…for a while now I’ve really been a fan of the VAC songs that kind of went against the old sound anyway…on Hex Angel, for example, my favorite song on that album was “Crawl”…I mean, you can’t really take that track and compare it to older VAC songs like…anything off of Twisted Thought Generator (keeping in mind that I’m talking about comparing is sound-wise lol), or anything off of Fun With Knives. And, since I quit doing Remission, I’ve expanded my musical interests a lot. If there’s one thing that burns you out on Goth/Industrial music pretty fast, it’s gotta be either doing a radio show or being a DJ in a club that plays those genres. For the longest time while doing Remission towards the end, I started getting really burnt out on the same old shit…I started throwing in Trip-Hop and more interesting shit into the show. Then, when I stopped doing the radio show, I started getting into a lot of different music for the first time in years. A lot of indie stuff…indie rock, indie pop. It has the same appeal that goth/industrial used to have for me…TONS of really talented musicians who don’t get noticed because they’re not on fucking Universal’s record label or MTV or anything.
And therein lies the problem…I mean I hate to say it, because I was part of the goth/industrial community for many years, but…it fucking stagnates! People want the same old shit year after year! Evidence can be seen by just going INTO the goth clubs…and I know you’ve been witness to it. People will NOT dance to a new song simply because they aren’t familiar with it…and that’s total shit…if it sounds good…fucking listen to it! dance to it…don’t immediately leave the floor just because you aren’t familiar with it and don’t have all of your spooky moves choreographed to it, ya know? when I would go into the clubs, I would hear the SAME shit that had been spinning in the clubs YEARS before that. One night at a goth night I even heard a DJ spinning Sting’s “Desert Rose”…I mean…seriously?! come on! I just find it rather sad to hear that some fans “hate” the new album…like I said, all they want is the SAME old shit over and over again…they want another “Calling ov the Dead” or “Fun With Knives”…which is just funny to me, because you even gave them a new version of “Phucking Phreak” on the new album…but I’m sure all of the old fans loved that track but hated the rest…or they even hated “Phucked up Phreak” because you “butchered” a classic, or some lame shit like that. It’s just sad that, in a scene like the goth/industrial one, that people seem to frown upon change and creativity by artists – exploring other sounds…I mean, the VERY FIRST industrial track I ever heard was “Phucking Phreak” (some kid in my music class was listening to it)…before that, I had never heard industrial music in my life lol…and I was intrigued…it was exciting and different for me…so I went out that day and bought the album at Wax Trax. Then I started buying your other albums, and, honestly…I always loved Twisted Thought Generator…I know a lot of people I knew didn’t even like that album…but the overall mood on that album and the lyrics to the songs were really amazing to me…and despite my love for Calling ov the Dead, I really took to VAC after I heard TTG…which, you have to admit, is pretty different from CotD lol.
So, like I said, I think people in the “scene” just need to expand their horizons and not get so fucking critical and uptight when an artist experiments with a new sound. Just remember, Bryan…you can’t please everyone…nor should you try to. You’re a musician, you make music for you…if others like it, that’s just a bonus. Fuck the nay-sayers. Honestly, like I said, the new album is amazing. I’m sure other people will hear it and take to it to replace the shallow fuckers who have shown hate towards the new album.
And, just as a side-note, in the little “interview” sort of audio part on the new album, you were talking about depressing songs/albums…so I was just curious if you’ve ever listened to any of SoulWhirlingSomewhere’s stuff…Before I heard SoulWhirlingSomewhere, nothing sounded as depressing as a lot of Cure songs, but man…SWS’s albums are the most depressing albums I’ve ever heard…a bit minimal on a lot of songs…mostly just a lot of piano and acoustic guitar…some sparse beats in some songs…but yeah, just thought I’d throw that band out there in case you’d never checked his stuff out before…might be something you’d like. I think you’d be able to appreciate the sad goodness lol.
And, on that note, I’ll let you get back to other stuff again lol sorry for the long, rambling message :)
November 9th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
I’ve been listening to the new album exclusively since I bought it. I’m so in love with Faithless. It reminds me a lot of why I liked Lust for Blood so much.
I think all the guitar would have been a little overwhelming had it not been done well. Thanks for giving us something new and different. Then again, thanks for not taking a total 180 – my other favorite is Caustic Disco. Reminded me a little of Toxic Coma =)
November 15th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
I fucking love this album. For me it’s def helping me cope w/ some similar shit i’m going through in my life. Thank you for making this record in this point of time.
