News: Where is Velvet Acid Christ now?

So what have i been doing over the last few months since I actually posted some VAC news? Mostly working on the web site. So much has changed since last summer, jobless again, broke again. I am working on VAC though, I have finished the track listing for the lp. The New lp is 9 songs like TTG, It will also have a bonus LP on it like TTG. A total of 20 songs. 11 on an mp3 data track (it will be a surprise), and 9 on the regular audio portion on the cd. The good news is that I do really like this lp. There is this theme to the sound. There is a lot of acoustic guitar on the lp, I really found a great way to record and process it. I’m finding that in a home studio, that organic sounds tend to sound the best. Either something analog, or something real like a guitar in a room. I have finally been able to record guitars and get them to sound really good. Do not fear, this still sounds like vac, and I have used acoustic guitars in the past, so don’t freak out. Before they were usually synth patches, not the real thing. This time, it’s the real thing.
The opening track sounds like massive attack meets death in june. The second track sounds like Old sisters of mercy meets death in june, 3rd track is the remake of phucking phreak with new musical parts and sounds like bombastic power goth rock, the 4th track is the title track of the lp and sounds like a cross between megadeth and the pink dots, the 5th track sounds like current 93 meets death in june, the 6th track sounds like something off of fun with knives with way better production think apflux but more acid dance style, the 7th track sounds like meat beat manifesto(think psyched out era) meets acid house, 8th track sounds like astral projection meets fun with knives, the 9th track sounds like hyper progressive psytrance meets industrial. The lp fits right in to the time line of VACs discography. The songs are produced very well, and have great sound quality, loud, punchy and warm. I produced this lp in a totally new way, using a macintosh with a whole new front end and logic studio. The mac has tightened up my midi and drum programming immensely. I am very happy with what is done so far. The only things left are samples, and vocals. I am working on the vocals right now. Its pretty hard :) I hope I sing well. I’m thinking the lp will be out in march or april. It is packed with music. The art is up in the Air, I am trying to find the right artist now, kind of hard, but i think i have something lined up.
What I has saved my life from losing all my friends to distance, is the ps3. I think I would of gone crazy if it were not for the ps3. I still work out, and try to eat healthy. I have been battling fierce depression over the past year. I think I am really starting to kick it now. Working out, and the planets seem to be lining up in the right way. I some how feel a lot better recently, and cannot put my finger on it. I really think the new VAC will do well, it is very song oriented. I think it sounds a lot different from lust for blood. I’m writing 90% this time. Todd hasn’t been around much, in the early stages only. At least the new Ohgr cd is cool! take care..

I must say I was affraid when I readed about what would be some of the influences of this album but now that I have readed your track’s descriptions I’m quiet.
Depression is a great creativity fountain, I hope you just use it and if it’s possible in order to create some ultradark song as past ones from you like “Pain” or “Killing Me” (this last one is my fav >) ).

Bryan, you just made my day. Thanks for the update. Now I have something to live for.
Also, I was wondering if you could do a review of the new Metallica album. As soon as I heard it, I thought to myself, “I hope Bryan does a review for Death Magnetic.”
Take care

I Hope the new VAC will rock!
btw Bryan you shouldn’t game too much … :-)
Haven’t been to the forum for a while, I am not so much into music lately (well only guitar hero lol), but I frequently visit your website! I hope you’re well, you are the greatest artist for me.
November 30th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Just three letters: Yay!
And I really agree with the others that you should do a tour soon. Preferably in Europe, with a visit to Sweden (because I’m a student with no money, haha). However, you are one of the few artists I’d be ready to travel to another country to see ^^
*cheers from a wintry Sweden*

Glad to hear you think you are kicking it. I hate depression. Even when I get rid of it, it still seems to be somewhere in there. Just a matter of getting above it.
I know you may think it’s lame, but the artist Lights actually helped me a lot with my depression. I know she’s all about cute and happy, but I think there’s something really deep there that made her that way. Empathy maybe? I don’t know, but I think she’s amazing, especially to do everything herself.
The new tracks sound awesome. I’m really anxious to hear track 4 and 8. Legendary Pink Dots kick ass. I tend to listen to a lot of LPD & Tear Garden as well, even to this day.
And yes. The new ohGr album is cool as hell. I read his interview about it and just the way he described it was simply amazing to me. And then he rambles about him being casted for a while, seemingly overwhelmed with joy. He’s a fucking cool guy. With a seriously fucking cool new cd. ohGr, cevin key, and bryan here, whoever hangs out with them seriously have my fucking envy.

An April release would be great. Just in time for my birthday ;D

I just hope all your theory is in one place. And like always whenever your new records come out I hope it raises the bar again. I like the fact that you are using nature generated harmonics with the guitar and what not. I would produce an album but I don’t want it to be a programmed one. I like instruments because the amount of detail in the wave form.

yup
December 6th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
You should get with a few other bands from your label and just go out and play shows. I think MANY more people listen to VAC than record sales indicate…
December 6th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
i think the same can be said with almost if not every band out there that they have mopre listeners then buyers. mostly the problem is availability of the album, i only ever found one vac cd in a store, bought it too.
p9 is going on tour with helltrash and ventana, maybe he can talk to st1tch since he does the tour scheduling for mrh, and i think was the one responsible for p9 and asd going on tour with them that one time, st1tch is a vac fan so who knows.
December 6th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
maybe some mto merch could get you some more dough, like posters of album art.

I just wanted to point out the situation you are in Bryan. You are literately one of the most imaginitive and futuristic artists, around and you set the EBM scene from 95 on up. Listen to God Module, they sound just like you. And Claire Voyante. Hocico, and suicide Commando. Also a lot of other artists who took from your futuristic style but it’s a cool style. We as musician’s are in a situation where cd sales have dropped by 90%. And mainly I want to point out that it’s a messed up situation. I am in awe at your music and know this is what the future of music is going to sound like. It’s messed up we don’t get paid for it.

When I was 18, I was hell bent on getting a VAC tattoo. Everyone tried to talk me out of it, and they eventually did, but I still contemplate it often. VAC has gotten me through the best and worst times over the past 10 years or so. It has been there for everything, always in the background. I consider it part of the soundtrack of my life. I am anxiously waiting for more! Don’t ever forget how talented you are Bryan! I can see myself listening to VAC at 80 years old lol!
