But What Ends When The Symbols Shatter
|
My Second favorite Death In June LP. I thought that since this is the 30th anniversary of the Jonestown mass suicide event, I would review this lp. Since some of the songs on this LP are actually re-worked songs from the jonestown choir. I’ll get more into that later. For now just listen to my favorite death in june song below, The Giddy Edge of Light.
I don’t know his influences for this lp, for sure though, He did re-work and mess up some songs from the Jim Jones People’s Choir. The songs Little Black Angel = Black Baby, Because of Him, Something Got a Hold on me, He’s Diseabled = He is Able, you can hear the originals by Clicking HERE! I find this hilarious. It is some of my favorite work for sure. I myself might have to pervert a few christian songs now. Genius.
Beyond the jonestown stuff, this really is a deep record. I love that there are hardly any drums. It is mostly atmospheres with lots of pretty acoustic guitars. I absolutely love the lyrics on this LP, I can totally relate to what is said. The production on this LP is stellar. I really love the warm pads and string sounds that layer with the guitars in some of the songs. The chime sounds, and other various china stuff is gorgeous as well. The songs are simple, but amazing. I love the chord changes in the giddy edge of light especially.
My favorite songs are Death is the martyr of beauty, He’s Disabled, Because of Him, Daedalus Rising, Little Black Angel, Golden Wedding of Sorrow, Giddy Edge of Light, Ku Ku Ku, Why bother listing more, i love the whole thing from start to finish. I give this a 93 out of 5. Buy now! Click Here to Buy mp3 audio 256 drm free of Death in June: But What Ends When The Symbols Shatter. One of my desert Isle CDs for sure.

If you love “But, What Ends When The Symbols Shatter”, you shall check out “Rose Clouds of Holocaust”, but I think you have already :)
“Little Black Angel”, “But, What Ends…” and “Golden Wedding of Sorrow” are my favourites from this records.
Although I love Current 93, I don“t really like the tracks on this with Tibet on lead vox.

the music i am working on now is mostly drumless. people i am in close contact with are being kind of critical. i have never heard these songs until now, and they are reassuring. “Golden Wedding of Sorrow” is pretty. I love the way he makes it hard to discern the poetry from the lyrics. his lyric style is neat, i think..
I also really dig the mark tree that they use. i love that. I use it myself once in a while..

I was lucky to catch Death In June live a few years back in London.

That sounds like great fun honestly. If done right. I think you ought to go for it.

@Menschenfeind: Not only “Rose Clouds…”, also “Brown Book”, because of the Horst Wessel Lied he used in the title track.

This was a great album, but the new DIJ album is horrid.
