Easily, this band is slowly proving to me that they are indeed here to stay and climbed up my favorites list every lp they put out. They prove that they can make great records over and over. So far 4 great ones. No bad ones. Velocifero is the latest. Does it deliver? YES, and then some. It picks up where the witching hour left off. It sounds like the next logic step. I am a bit puzzled by the choices they made for A-sides thus far. Ghost is a good song, but no where close to the best track on the lp. Some of the songs are a bit repetitive, it works though, because the songs that are usually are shorter. I do not like black cat at all. So when I heard this song on their myspace a while back anticipating their new record, i thought I would be let down. I skip 2 songs on the lp, but that seems to be the trend for me when it comes to ladytron on all of their LPs. So I only end up not liking 2 songs on every one of their cds to date.

I really like this record. I still think I like the witching hour a tad better, but not by much. That is kind of how I feel about all of their records. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, because I like them all so much. The quality is here with this release as it is with all their releases. Its solid, from start to finish. This is a great record. I still call this stuff Electro Clash. Sure they’ve added a lot more guitars over the last 2 lps, but that doesn’t mean it has lost it’s electro edge. Its 70’s cyber appeal is still here.

My favorite song on this LP is “I’m not scared” I love the key changes, the chord progressions, and how the vocals rise and fall on the progressions. It’s genius from a song writing standpoint. Other notable tracks are Runaway, Deep Blue, Burning up, They gave you a heart… and ghost.

I’m really in love with this lp. I was scared at first, but after seeing them live, and listening to this about 20 times now, I can honestly say, this is my favorite record this year so far. I give this a 10 out of 5. Buy now! Click Here to Velocifero by Ladytron DRM FREE 256 mp3. Click Here to Buy audio cd Velocifero by Ladytron.
