I must confess, I first heard this band in a TV commercial unfortunately(intel). It got so stuck in my head, I had to find out who it was. I found their myspace, and then I immediately downloaded their mp3s from amazon.com. I was pretty impressed. Totally 80s new wave. This is fun music. Not dark at all really. It has edge and attitude, but is kind of light hearted in a way that makes it pretty neutral.

I love the disco influence on some of it. I like real bass guitar a lot. This lp has great bass, like old david bowie and disco tracks. Kind of duran duranish in parts as well. I can hear the juno 60 all over the record. At least I think that is what I hear. The chorus on the junos is unmistakable.

I really love how they use strings to build up their songs. Like in the Bomb and Ice cream. My favorite track is the bomb. Followed closely by Ice Cream and The Get Go. I only skip one track and only sometimes. I like most all of the tracks on this LP. Get lucky, tight fit, Fan, Talking talking are all really strong tracks. This is a very upbeat high energy new wave pop record. Very retro.

The vocals are really strong. The vocalist really shines, a weird combination, kind of blondie mixed with bob dylan, new yorkish. Very unique. Funny, they are from the UK i think. I think this is a great summer lp. If you like 80s new wave, this will be something you should check out for sure. If you only like dark music, you wont like this. I give this a 5 out of 5. Buy now! Vocals put me in mind of The Flying Lizards and Kleenex. (BTW What ever happened to Kleenex? There were the singles “Heide’s Head” and “You/U” - and then they disappeared).

According to Wikipedia, NYPC are from London and the singer’s a vegetarian.

You know, Hexfix, if you go on promoting British culture like this, you may end up with a KCB! (That’s a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire). Of course, you won’t be able to use the accolade “Sir” unless you become a British subject…..do you drink a lot of tea?
