Time for some 80s Cheese!
What can I say. I generally do not like David Bowie. Most of his songs I find to be insipid lame pop stuff. Sure, he is super talented. But so many times I find him way to cheesy for my tastes. But I seriously love this song. This is the song that kept me from completely throwing him under the bus in my mind of music history. Not to mention I really dig the lp he did with Trent Reznor as well. I love ashes to ashes.
Split enz was the band that came before the big huge boring fest that is known as crowded house. LOL. Split Enz had some really strange songs and videos. Kind of like the pop version of devo from new zealand. They had a few songs that I really liked when I was a kid, and still I find comfort and I reminisce. I really love the verse in this song, how it sounds kind of ominous.
If it was not for the b52s when I was a kid, I would of never become the freak I am today. The Big hair, The Colors, The gay lead male vocalist. I mean what more can I say. This stuff is psychedelic and fun. No one sounds like the b52s, they have their own thing going on. Not to mention the old guitarist dressed up in a star trek uniform while playing guitar. What more can I say.
Another staple in my younger days was DEVO. Yes, and this song really nails why I like them. Satire. Intelligence. Silliness, and Strangeness. Devo had a huge influence on Toxic Coma my side project.

I love the b52’s video, fun and trippy. Same can be said for Devo. Love the bass line, very fat. Visuals are great.

First of all, I love David Bowie to no end. When I was a kid, “Life on Mars” had a magnificent impact on me. So he is an icon for me.
b52s were a nother form of fun for me. many great family memories with that, watching popup video among other things.
DEVO: not a big fan, but my mom likes them…
