This is by far my favorite Siouxsie & The Banshee’s LP. From start to finish, it is simply amazing, I never skip a song. Has so much energy. A lot of upbeat songs. This is not a typical goth record at all. These are great strange pop songs that really have weight and do not sound dated at all to me. If this came out today, I would think it was a masterpiece. This LP carries so many great memories for me. I will say it, I prefer this to the Cure’s Disintegration. I love Disintegration so that is really saying something. I know tons of people who will think I am crazy for thinking such a thing. But oh well.
I really miss the bands of the 80s. They all had a really distinct sound, vocal style, and could play and perform very well. Gone are those days. Now all rock music sounds typical, with vocals that sound like your next door neighbor’s voice, nothing unique at all for the most part.
Cities in Dust was a huge club hit back when I first started clubbing. It probably got over played, but I don’t care, I still love all the over played siouxsie songs. I love how epic Cities In Dust sounds, it’s catchy too. Candyman is very upbeat and kind of surreal. Cannons is a neat franticly musical song with very cool arpeggios and acoustic guitar.
I give Siouxsie all the credit for the modern goth look. I think she was the one who really left the biggest mark image wise. 92 is great song too, I love how it talks murder and craziness. What I hate about this lp, it reminds me of my longest relationship that still haunts me to this day.
I really love the quarterdrawing of the dog, this song is so great, so atmospheric and trippy, but my all time favorite Siouxsie song is “PARTYS FALL”, that is why I like this LP the most. I love the break downs and build ups in the song, the cool strange arpeggios, the super catchy chorus, and the mesmerizing lyrics. I am so angered that it was not a HIT, to me it is the ultimate hit.
I really love Lullaby as well. The song slowly builds up and then as the this amazing chorus that rings out at the end of the song. I cannot speak highly enough about this CD. One of my all time favorites. I give this a 10 out of 5. Buy now! Click Here to buy Tinderbox by Siouxsie & The Banshees. I’ve only heard a few songs by them so I wouldn’t consider myself a fan yet…I want to buy one of their albums.
Should I buy this one first Bryan?

The Banshees!! What can I say? From the “Peel Sessions” through the endless wait for “Hong Kong Garden” and “The “Scream” through the abrupt departure of McKay and Morris and the subsequent glorious reflowering, I followed the Banshees with every 7″, 12″, EP, LP, picture disc; video and DVD. I probably saw them more times than any other band and they’re still the only band I actually went abroad to see (an hilarious episode involving 3 coachloads of English punks in full regalia invading French motorway service stations in the middle of the night; those places couldn’t have emptied faster if 150 zombies had crashed through the doors; the gig was worth it too - Robert Smith was with them then and it’s the only time I heard them play “Coal Mind” live). Anyway, “Tinderbox”: I don’t want another telling off from the Disease Factory so I’ll just point out what good value this CD is: not only do you get the 8 tracks from the original LP but all of the songs from the two 12″ singles too. Besides, in any discussion over the best Banshees’ album, I think you have to separate the first two from the rest because McKay and Morris were with Severin and Sioux for “The Scream” and “Join Hands” and those two albums were largely McKay’s work (check the credits on “The Scream” - he wrote nearly all the music. For what it’s worth, “Ju-Ju” usually wins fans’ polls for the best album and you can’t go far wrong with “Once Upon A Time” (the first singles collection). And, just to be on the safe side: no one’s asking anyone to apologise for their opinions or saying something cannot be someone’s favourite OK?! (Grin). Sorry for boring everyone.
