Anime: Ghost In The Shell, Hexfix93’s Take.

Cyber Fucking Punk! Even more. I love this film. I hate the animated series, it bores me to fucking death. But the movies, especially this one, is one of the best anime films ever made. A futuristic tale. It has this blade runner type of feel to it. Cyborgs. Implants. Mindfucks. It’s all here. Pretty industrial.
There is a lot of police kind of talk and investigation that happens in this. Very neuromancer influenced. All about spirits inside of robots. Fascinating. I love the characters in these movies. This is one favorite animes. This is a movie. There is a lot of cyborg nudity. I give this a 5 out of 5. Click here to buy Ghost in the shell.

i never have seen the movies but ive seen alot of the animated series. i like it, i dont always pay attention to it or get into the episode however, but ive always liked the setting and whole plot of the series. i agree with you on that. and it has cool opening songs. (stand alone complex does at least)

My favorite anime, as well as its sequel (which made me nearly cry at parts). I remember when this first came out, I was blown away by its imagery. Great story, very innovative, characters that I care about…

Actually i found the movies dull as shit simply cos they were in no way based on the manga.
The movies were spin offs of the manga which had none of tbe backstory, motiovation and information.
The Stand Alone Complex series while a little slower paced really goes into the human soul and digitization. They had more time to flush it out. Best time to watch it, I found is when i’m shit faced drunk. You tend to care about where we’re all going more that way. At least where i’m going.
Besides, the sountrack for the SAC series rocks =) Last time i found an anime with a decent soundtrack was Streetfighter for KMFDM.

Manga, the movies and TV series are completely different things…
Actually, I love every Ghost In The Shell (manga is very funny; Stand Alone Complex is twisted, interesting and smart action-detective, with a lot of Motoko and neat music; Innocence’s just perfect in visual and intelligent sides), but the reviewed movie is the best thing I have seen ever. It changed me…
That’s what I call cyber-industrial. Visual, musical, philosophic splendour. Aaah, nonesuch.
Oh yeah, “Cyber Fucking Punk”, that’s the stuff!)
