When it comes to Metal, I am very picky. I love grindcore, and other forms of Death Metal. This band to me, really defines what Industrial Metal IS. This stuff is fast, evil, angry, and funny. Musical as well. This is one of the many faces of Devin Townsend. He has been in many bands and even worked with Steve Vai, I cannot stant Steve Vais music, but I don’t hold it against him. Devin Also did guitar work for front line assembly from 1994 to 1995. heheeh.

Live, I think he puts on one hell of a show, the music is super tight, he is funny, always making jokes and making fun of stuff. Seriously one of the best live acts I have ever seen. The energy is intense. Not for the faint of heart. I recommend seeing them live, even if you hate metal. These guys are great live..

Play this loud! This is meant to be blasted. It sounds so much better loud. I think my favorite song on this LP is S.Y.L. The chorus of “I fucking hate you” over and over just sings to my heart. My other favorite tracks are Happy Camper, In the Rainy Season, Critic, and the Hilarious Satan’s Ice Cream Truck.

Yeah, He’s bald now. But i don’t care, he kicks ass. Not to mention, I think he is either a vegan or a vegetarian. can’t remember which. This is one of my favorite Metal records of all time.

City is the only record of Syl who have listened. I love it. The perfect compromise between fury, creativity and madness.

yeah, city is by far the best in my opinion.

    Another stuff like this?

i think at “Demanufacture” & “Obsolete” of Fear Factory. For me, FF expressed his potential as well on this albums … but i don’t feel the same sensation of Kaos controlled like in City ….

really? FF are good but I think SYL are simply the ruling aesthetic of chaos. Devin Townsend is such an accomplished guitarist, shredding riffs at seemingly impossible speeds like a tight, well oiled machine, and he pulls this off live. He is metal personified. He has so much emotion in his screams. I heard that he’d often black out during studio sessions because he’d scream so loud. That was normal. SYL simply rule that genre of music in my opinion.

SYL is absolutely amazing…if no one knows I believe they called it quits BTW. This and City are my favorites of theirs and I was lucky to see em live and shake Devin’s hand (hes a hero lol)

Devin’s solo stuff is amazing too…

I love Fear Factory as well…but not nearly as much as SYL

I bought this cd a few days ago and … WOW.
I still prefer City, but even in this shocking good way
